Starting Saturday, four parking garages in downtown Topeka will be open for free parking.
“We’re very excited about it,” Topeka businessman Greg Tiller said. “This is an idea where it was a matter of time. It had to happen.”
“The biggest problem downtown is our parking,” Tiller said. “Of course on weekends it’s free parking downtown anyways, but it’s limited, so we do need those parking garages.”
Tiller praised city manager Jim Colson for implementing ‘Free Parking Saturdays’ in an attempt to bring more consumers to downtown Topeka.
The following four city parking garages will be open for free parking from Saturday 6 a.m. to Sunday 1 a.m.
Townsite Garage – entrance off 6th Street between Kansas & Quincy
Park N Shop – entrance off Quincy between 6th & 7th Street
Crosby Place – entrance off 8th Street between Kansas & Jackson
Center City – entrance off 9th Street between Kansas & Jackson
