Emporia State scored 47 points in each half on the way to a 94-52 win over McPherson in the home opener on Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium. Terrence Moore and Jay Temaat each scored 18 points to lead the Hornets.
Emporia State jumped out to a 13-0 lead and never led by fewer than double digits the rest of the way. Moore had 12 points in the first half while Micah Swank added eight as the Hornets led 47-25 at the break.
Temaat scored 12 of his points in the second half off the bench as the Hornets got 49 points from their reserves. The lead would grow to as much as 44 points before settling in for the 42 point win.
Paul Bunch also scored in double figures with ten points as 13 of the 14 Hornets scored. Bunch was one of four Hornets with five rebounds. Swank and Tyler Jordan each dished seven assists as the Hornets had 30 assists on 37 baskets in the game.
Emporia State will play Sterling on Thursday night in their fifth game in seven days. Tip-off from Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium is set for 7:00 p.m.
