Gov. Sam Brownback says keep Thanksgiving a holiday and keep the shopping for the day after.
In an interview with WIBW NewsNow, he said he gets why businesses do it, but businesses are taking people away from their family.
“We need to think about the families, or the workers in this system. Now you’re asking people to come out and go to work on a major U.S. Holiday and I’d rather say we can get it done in a shorter amount of time.”
He says he understands that the shopping seasons is shorter this year, but he believes that Black Friday should be just that, on Friday.
Brownback also encouraged Kansans’ to shop local, and participate in Small Business Saturday.
