During lunch hour in downtown Topeka, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, northbound on Kansas Avenue, lost control for an unknown reason and hit the pedestrian crosswalk, causing the vehicle to roll over.
“Witnesses say the vehicle was going Northbound on Kansas and wasn’t speeding, wasn’t doing anything wrong just all of a sudden hit the pedestrian crosswalk,” said Sgt. Byron Endsley. “The driver crawled out on his own and fire assisted the passenger to get out. They were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
Photos show a child car seat but police say no small children were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Police say they are investigating whether a medical issue played a part in the accident. No other vehicles were involved.
