Authorities say a Kansas man has died in a commercial diving accident in southeast Alaska.
Alaska State Troopers identified the victim as 32-year-old Levi Adams of Leawood, Kan.
Adams and another unidentified man were diving in a commercial sea cucumber fishery harvest Tuesday morning near the Mountain Point area of Ketchikan. South Tongass Fire Chief Steve Rydeen says the other man surfaced, noting the “air didn’t taste right.” Adams didn’t surface.
He was pulled from the water, and responders attempted CPR. He was taken to Ketchikan Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Coast Guard is investigating.
