MIAA Football Players of the Year and All-MIAA Teams Announced

MIAA Champion Northwest Missouri placed seven people on the All-MIAA first team. Pittsburg State added the second most players with six earning first team honors.

The first team offense is led by MIAA Offensive Player of the Year Northwest Missouri quarterback Trevor Adams. He will line-up behind an offensive line led by the only unanimous selection in Cole Manhart from Nebraska-Kearney. Also across the front are Emporia State’s Jarrett Stastny, Northwest Missouri’s Cody Carlson, Pittsburg State’s Cody Holland and Washburn’s Kyle Duncan.

In the first team backfield are Central Oklahoma running back Joshua Birmingham and Pittsburg State’s Jeff Seybold. At the tight end/fullback spot on the first team is Tore’ Hurst of Washburn.

A three-receiver set for the first team consists of Emporia State’s Ray Ray Davis, Central Oklahoma’s Marquez Clark and Pittsburg State’s John Brown. Handling the kicking duties is Justin Linn of Washburn and Brown of PSU also was named the first team return specialist.

On the defensive side of the ball the front four is led by Northwest Missouri defensive lineman and MIAA Defensive Player of the Year Matt Longacre. He is joined by teammate Brandon Yost, Pittsburg State’s Joe Uzzel and Washburn’s Cameron Jackson along the defensive front. In the linebacking corps is Emporia State’s Jordan Sanders, Pittsburg State’s Nate Dreiling and Northwest Missouri’s Eric Reimer and DJ Gnader.

Emporia State’s Chris Poston, Lindenwood’s Pierre Desir, Missouri Western’s Mike Jordan and Northwest Missouri’s Brandon Dixon make up the first team’s defensive backfield. Missouri Western’s Scott Groner has earned first team honors at punter for 2013.

The MIAA Co-Freshmen of the Year are Emporia State runningback Antonio Brown and Central Missouri defensive lineman Josh Powell. Northwest Missouri’s Adam Dorrel was named the MIAA Coach of the Year after leading NWMSU to an unbeaten season and an MIAA Championship.
