The victim was identified Friday as 54-year-old Eleanor Frantz of Topeka. She is still in critical condition as of noon.
A person crossing the street suffered critical injuries after being hit by a car.
Around 7:45pm Thursday, emergency crews were called to 29th and Gage Blvd. after the woman was hit.
Freezing rain and sleet were falling in Topeka at the time of the accident and police tell WIBW NewsNow, the driver of the car was not able to stop for the woman crossing.
She was taken to a local hospital, where at one point she stopped breathing.
At last report, she is in critical condition, and undergoing surgery.
An accident reconstruction team was called in to conduct the investigation.
