A man trying to rob a Topeka Liquor store with a knife, had a gun pulled on him.
According to our media partners at the Topeka Capital Journal, just after 2:30pm Saturday, officers were called to Charlie’s Liquor, at 1235 S.W. Huntoon, for the report of an armed robbery.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the Liquor store owner holding a gun on the man who tried to rob him with a large knife.
The suspect, 27-year-old Joseph Vincent Eldrighoff of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Jail on suspicion of attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
Officers say Eldrighoff was seated on the floor of the store while waiting for officers to arrive, then went into custody without incident.
Cpl. Chris Sturgeon told CJOnline.com that the owner exercised good judgment in wielding his weapon, de-escalating a potentially volatile situation.
