Police are unsure if a woman made off with any money after an armed robbery attempt in southeast Topeka.

At 3:07 a.m., a Kwik Shop clerk at SE 37th and Humboldt called 911 saying an African American woman had just fled the area after attempting to rob the store. The clerk told arriving officers that she was wearing all black and used a gun in the robbery, but covered it with something, possibly a t-shirt.

The clerk said she ran out the store and headed east on foot. Police were unable to locate her and they do not know if she was successful in stealing any cash.

Anyone with information about the attempted armed robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 234-0007.
