The Washburn Ichabods led from start to finish in their season opener in a 65-42 win over Rollins in their first game of the Division II Tip Off Classic. Washburn will take on CSU-San Bernardino tomorrow at 1 p.m. CST.
The Ichabods (1-0) jumped out to a 9-1 lead and never looked back as the Ichabods built a 37-20 lead going into the half. Washburn shot 46 percent from the field in the first half while they held the Tars (0-1) to 21 percent shooting on 6 of 28 shooting.
In the second half, Washburn would go on to lead by as many 29 in the game as they would go on to the win.
Washburn was led by Alex North who finished 6 of 9 from the field going 4 of 6 from 3-point range. He scored 13 of his points in the first half. Christian Ulsaker scored a career-high 15 points hitting 6 of 8 shots from the field.
The Ichabods finsihed 23 of 53 from the field while holding a 44 to 33 advantage on the glass. The Tars finished 13 of 52 from the field. Washburn took advantage of 22 Tar turnovers turning them into 25 points. Washburn’s bench also had a 31 to 17 advantage in bench points.
