A long-time automotive journalist with Kelley Blue Book notes that if you’re looking for a new vehicle in 2020, it probably won’t be a car.
“Most of the new vehicles are primarily trucks,” said Senior Managing Editor Matt DeLorenzo. “You look at the new Jeep Gladiator, which is a terrific-looking vehicle that’s generating a lot of excitement in the market. There’s some midsize SUVs, like the Kia Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade that there’s some excitement around. They offer really upscale interiors, great features, really good-looking styling.”
DeLorenzo notes that pure electric vehicles are gaining in popularity.
“EVs are still a little ways out, there,” said DeLorenzo. “The new Kia Soul is coming in with a pure EV version that has a range of over 250 miles, which is really an interesting vehicle. It’s the sister vehicle to the Hyundai Kona EV.”
DeLorenzo is still most impressed with how safe new cars are.
“Right now, a lot of the blind spot warnings and emergency braking and those types of things, those will virtually eliminate a lot of those stupid little fender benders that we get into where you back into a pole or you don’t see the guy in your blind spot,” DeLorenzo said. “I would definitely look for that kind of technology. It really helps your situational awareness. It will keep you from having an accident.”
