A Centennial League basketball doubleheader rescheduled from last Friday was the lone event on the Monday schedule.
In girls action, Washburn Rural took control early and never looked back in a 59-24 romp over Highland Park. Brooklyn DeLeye led the Lady Blues with 17 points while Ella Hurtig chipped in 11 off the bench. The Lady Blues defense limited Lady Scots star Dariauna Carter to just seven points. Aaliyah Washington’s eight points led Highland Park in the defeat.
The boys game needed four additional minutes to determine a winner, with Rural holding off the Scots 48-40 to remain atop the Centennial League. Joe Berry and Jack Hutchinson each went for 21 points for the Junior Blues, with Josh Williams scoring the other six points for the team, all in overtime. Juan’Tario Roberts scored 20 points to lead Highland Park.
