Topeka West and Ottawa split a doubleheader at the Chargerdome. In the girls game, Ottawa pulled ahead late after trailing most of the game and defeated the Lady Chargers, 43-38. Tilah Taylor scored 15 points and Miyah Larson added 14 in the losing effort for West. The boys game saw three Chargers score in double figures as they held off Ottawa 68-61, pulling ahead for good with two and a half minutes left in the game. Tre Alexander scored 18 points with Elijah Brooks chipping in 16 and Marque Wilkerson scoring 15 in his first start of the season.
It was a strong showing for the three city schools who participated in the Emporia Invitational. Seaman took first, lapping the field with 532 total points. Topeka High came in third and Hayden fourth among the seven teams.
Washburn Rural competed at the Free State Invitational.
