Groundwater Management District #4 manager Shannon Kenyon and Sheridan County ag producer Brett Oelke were guests on Wednesday morning’s Ag Issues program.  They discussed the results and ag impacts of an ongoing program that limits how much water annually ag producers can draw from the Ogallala Aquifer.  The program is being hailed as a big success not only for the conservation results, but also on the profit impact for ag producers who for decades have relied on the aquifer for an irrigation source.  The program is also being recognized in the national “How We Respond” report from the American Association for the Advancement of Science.  Click here to view the report of this and other conservation programs across the nation.
