The Washburn soccer team defeated MIAA rival, Emporia State, for the first time in four years Sunday afternoon as the Ichabods won 3-1 over the Hornets. The Ichabods improve thier record to 4-1 and the Hornets move to 4-2 on the season.
The Ichabods allowed their first goal in three matches and their first since the opening match of the season.
The Ichabods had shutout William Jewell, Colorado State Pueblo and Nebraska Kearney. The goal they allowed didn’t come till the 83rd minute.
Defense has been the key for the Ichabod resurgence this year on the pitch.
