Body found in Jackson County during search for missing man not identified yet

A body has been discovered during the search for a missing Jackson County resident.

According to a release from Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse, the body was located late Sunday morning east of U.S. Highway 75.

Official identification of the body had not been made as of Sunday afternoon.

Morse said the discovery came during the search for 51-year-old Netawaka resident Brian Wood, who was last seen November 16 near 266th Road and U.S. Highway 75.

Suffering from a severe leg infection and believed to be disoriented, family members, friends, neighbors and emergency personnel gathered as a search party, locating clothing on the west side of Highway 75, which led to the discovery of the body.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted with Sunday morning’s discovery by the Kansas Highway Patrol, and the fire departments from Holton and Netawaka.

Morse asks that anyone with information related to the case call his office at 785-364-2251.
