NEWS RELEASE FROM TPD
After a thorough investigation, a bomb threat was deemed not credible Tuesday afternoon.
Just before 2:00 p.m. officers from the Topeka Police Department responded to the Iron Rail Brewery located at 705 S Kansas Ave. on a report of a bomb threat.
An individual reportedly called the business stating they placed a bomb in the building. Officers immediately closed nearby streets and restricted pedestrian activity in the area. Iron Rail Brewery staff made the determination to evacuate their building as a precautionary measure.
The TPD Bomb Unit and a Police K-9 from the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office that is specialized in Bomb Detection cleared the building and did not locate anything suspicious.
All streets in the area reopened shortly after 3:15 p.m. The investigation into the threat is ongoing.
