Dog shot and killed by Topeka Police Officer

A Topeka Police officer shot and killed a dog that was attacking him over the weekend.

The dog was shot in the 3400 block of SW 37th Street on Saturday after attacking several juveniles and biting an adult.

Animal control was called, but the dog attacked the officers first and the officer fired his department issued handgun one time, striking and killing the dog before the dog could injure anyone else. One person sustained minor injuries from the incident.
