Memorial Day weekend marks the second anniversary of the Street Eats and Beats Festival in downtown Salina.
Designed to attract people to the downtown area, the festival combines dining opportunities from food truck vendors from throughout the state with performances from regional acts later that evening.
“It was created by the Salina Area Young Professionals to offer something different for people who lived in the community while encouraging people to go downtown to shop our local businesses,” said Salina Area Chamber of Commerce Membership and Community Relations Associate Hayley Mortimer.
Nine food trucks representing a wide variety of tastes will be present at the festival this year with everything from American cuisine to several Asian food options to a new Filipino selection called lumpias served by Lumpia Palooza.
“This is a brand new food truck, right in Central Kansas, and they serve lumpias which are Filipino egg rolls,” said Morrical. “But they like to do their own twist on it. So, they serve dessert lumpias, such as strawberry cheesecake. We are really excited for everybody who attends to try that particular lumpia.”
The Street Eats and Beats Festival is May 27th from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. at Campbell Plaza in downtown Salina. Musical performances will begin at 8 p.m. For more information, visit their Street Eats and Beats page on Facebook.
