December is bringing cheaper gas prices across the country, as well as in Kansas.
“The average price has fallen about five cents nationally over the last month, and fallen seven cents or so in Kansas over the past four weeks,” said Shawn Steward with AAA Kansas. “This week, we’re at $2.28 a gallon in Kansas.”
Kansas has the 9th cheapest gas in the country.
“The latest Energy Information Administration reports show that gasoline demand is at its lowest rate since mid-February and the highest stock level since this summer,” said Steward.
Pump prices should be good for those planning holiday travel.
“In the lead-up to the holiday driving season here in the next week to two weeks, we may see a small spike in demand,” said Steward. “We don’t think it’s going to be enough to impact gas prices
Of greater concern in the long run is the continuing geopolitical uncertainty, especially regarding all of the U.S.-China trade negotiations.
