Gas prices in Kansas still good and stable

Gas prices in Kansas are still headed downward.

“This week’s average gas price across Kansas is $2.37 a gallon, which is about a cent cheaper than we were a week ago,” said Shawn Steward with AAA Kansas. “We’re looking at about 23 cents less than we were a year ago at this time.”

The crude oil market is always volatile, but things are looking good so far.

“The national and the Kansas gas prices have been gradually, slowly decreasing over the past three weeks or so,” said Steward. “Barring any major industry or geopolitical events that might impact it, we expect those trends to continue.”

The combination of supply and demand right now is both seasonal and stable.

“Generally, this time of year, we start to see less demand and just a general decrease in gas prices is very common throughout the fall,” said Steward. “Despite some earlier tensions in the Middle East and
other geopolitical issues, over the past few weeks things have stabilized a little bit on that front. That’s helped keep gas prices fairly cheap.”

Kansas is currently 12th cheapest in the country for gasoline.
