Junior Achievement (JA) of Kansas has raised $6,341.50 as a result of the EnvistaCares Challenge. The total was announced at a press conference at Wanamaker Elementary School on Wednesday.
The EnvistaCares Challenge is a monthly challenge issued by Envista Credit Union. “The whole program is designed to highlight local nonprofits in our community for all the great things they are doing. We challenged the community to show up for Junior Achievement during the month of August,” said Ashley Schmidt, Marketing Manager for Envista. For the entire month, Envista Credit Union matched donations up to $2,500.00 to JA of Kansas.
The community donated $3,101.50 to JA of Kansas. In addition, Kona Ice of Lawrence / Topeka / Manhattan also donated 20% of proceeds from all corporate events held in August for a total of $740.00.
Matt Douglas, Owner of Kona Ice, noted, “What a great organization Junior Achievement is. Their three pillars of entrepreneurship, financial literacy and workforce readiness are right up our alley.”
With the Envista match of $2,500.00 the total giving for the month was $6,341.50.
“This money is going to be used to fund a few initiatives. Wanamaker Elementary is the last school in USD 437 that does not have Junior Achievement all in. We are going to be going all in, Kindergarten through 6th grade, this school year and moving forward.” said Ashley Charest, President.
Business leaders, community members and JA of Kansas supporters attended the event.
