The personal finance website WalletHub recently released its list of 2019’s Best Small Cities in America and a Kansas community topped the list.
“Leawood, Kansas, actually ranked best in the country,” said analyst Jill Gonzalez. “We did look at over 1200 cities.”
Small-city life can be best for those who appreciate more wiggle room, fewer degrees of separation and shorter commutes.
“We looked at forty-two different indicators of livability,” said Gonzalez. “That ranges from things like housing costs, to school system quality, to attractions, things to do and restaurants per capita.”
Small cities, for the purpose of this ranking, have populations between 25,000 and 100,000.
“Leawood did particularly well when it comes to affordability, education and health care systems and overall economic health of the city,” said Gonzalez.
The next best city in the survey in Kansas was Lenexa, it was in the 90th percentile.
