A black middle school student claims in a lawsuit that school administrators punished him after he was physically and sexually abused by a white student.
In a federal lawsuit, the black student at Lansing Middle School said he was repeatedly harassed last February by the white student at school and on the school bus. Both boys are seventh-graders.
The lawsuit alleges a teacher did nothing to help after the black student complained about the treatment in a study hall.
He says the abuse continued on the school bus and he eventually responded by hitting the white student. The black child alleges administrators initially blamed him for the confrontation and didn’t punish the perpetrator.
The Kansas City Star reports the school district would not comment on pending litigation.
