Medicare beneficiaries need to look into their plans for 2020

If you have a Medicare health or prescription drug plan, you only have until the end of Open Enrollment, December 7, to make changes to your 2020 plan.

“This is the opportunity for our just over half a million people with Medicare in Kansas to get out there, take a look at our Plan Finder or call 1-800-MEDICARE to see what offerings are available and find the plan that best suits them,” said John P. Hannigan, Acting Regional Administrator for the CMS Denver and Kansas City Regional Offices.

Even if you are happy with your current Medicare coverage, comparing plans could still pay off.

“These plans change every year,” said Hannigan. “People’s health care situation changes every year and more often, sometimes, but you only have this one opportunity. Take a look at what your health needs are. Take a look at the plans that are offered. Take a look at the cost that’s out there. This Plan Finder will allow you to do those comparisons.”

Medicare Advantage plans can really help certain people, depending on their situation.

“They can sometimes get a plan with zero out-of-pocket cost,” said Hannigan. “In fact, everybody in Kansas has access to a zero out-of-pocket cost plan. We have 69 Medicare Advantage plans available
throughout Kansas.”
