September is Suicide Prevention Month, and the Real Warriors Campaign is asking that service members, veterans and family members learn the warning signs of common psychological health concerns.
“Talk to somebody, just reach out,” said Lieutenant Commander Evette Pinder with the Real Warriors Campaign. “Reaching out is a sign of strength. At realwarriors.net, you can learn about symptoms or signs. Maybe you’re not sleeping as well. Maybe you’re getting angry a little too quickly, maybe you’re feeling a little more sad than you normally do. Maybe you’re not interacting with your friends as much.”
If you’re changing duty stations, you can still get help.
“One of the resources is the in transition program, said Pinder. “If you know that you’re not quite feeling like you normally do, you can reach out to the in transition program. You can do that, really, through the Psychological Health Resource Center. Go to realwarriors.net. There’s actually a live chat. You can literally just start talking with them.”

“We also have a Seek Care button,” said Pinder. “When you click on that button, it takes you in to accessing Tricare and other types of resources you might need.
