Topeka police say the victim and others involved in an early Friday morning shooting are being uncooperative with investigators.
Lt. Andrew Beightel says the adult male victim was dropped off at a local hospital just after 1 a.m.
Police were initially told the shooting took place at Quinton’s Bar and Deli, 4121 SW Huntoon St.
Beightel says it was later determined that wasn’t the case.
“It actually did not occur at Quinton’s,” said Beightel. “The people who dropped the victim off were not being truthful.”
Beightel says it’s not clear why the people who dropped off the victim lied to police about the location of the shooting.
Investigators later learned the shooting took place in the 5200 block of SW 15th Street, about a mile west of Quinton’s.
The victim told police he was walking in the area when he was shot by an unknown suspect.
Beightel says the victim has not given a description of the suspect or vehicle involved in the shooting.
No other details have been released.
