Republican Caryn Tyson is running for Congress and the conversation for her started last year.
“I was getting several calls, people asking me to run, which wasn’t a surprise,” said Tyson. “I was the 2nd District Republican chairman for awhile and I know a lot of people throughout the district. My husband sat me down and said, you know, Caryn, no one is going to represent the district stronger or work harder than you do. You really need to take a look at this.”
Tyson believes her record separates her from the rest of the contenders for the nomination.
“There’s quite a bit of difference, actually,” said Tyson. “I don’t just talk about it. I get results. I try to get things done. I work on solutions. I try to work with other people. I listen to all sides of the argument, so that you can come up with the best possible solution for Kansas. I’ve had results in my career, successful business ventures and also success in the legislature with amendments and bills.”
There are no surprises with Tyson.
“I’m committed to my constituents,” said Tyson. “I have been in my Senate district and I would continue that through the 2nd District. It’s so important that we do get the best solutions, that it not be one side or the other, but, like I’ve told people before, you can take my palm card and you can tell how I’m going to vote. I think we need legislators that are willing to stand up and say what they believe, stand up and tell you what their platform is and not just put their finger up in the wind to decide what they’re going to vote for.”
