Gary Woodland didn’t know what to expect when it was announced that Topeka was going to hold a block party in his honor.
The turnout was better then he could have ever expected.
Woodland was honored on Tuesday night in downtown Topeka on Kansas Avenue.
Woodland spoke to the crowd on hand and was given the “Keys to the city.” From now on, June 16th will be now known as Gary Woodland day in Topeka.
The former Shawnee Height T-Bird, Ichabod and Jayhawk got emotional speaking to the crowd when he said “thank you to the city of Topeka”
Woodland had a message to all the kids in the crowd “Dream big, believe in yourself, surround yourself with people who believe in your dreams and believe in you, This trophy proves no dream is too big.”
